Study: Tenofovir Gel Reduces Both Herpes Simplex and HIV Risk

 study found that Tenofovir, currently an anti-HIV/AIDS drug, reduces herpes simplex infections by 51 percent and HIV infection by 39 percent in women. This study was conducted in South Africa and its conclusions have profound effects on drug prevention and treatment for herpes and HIV. Having a gel treatment on the drug market that prevents both herpes and HIV could be the answer to reducing prevalence rates worldwide.
